The Overscheduled Mom

Let me tell you about someone that you may have met before!

Once upon a time, there was a mom that got caught in the trap of over-scheduling.

She thought she was too busy, and that she didn’t have enough time for everything, so she tried to make up for her lack of time by scheduling in ALL THE THINGS.

When she looked at her schedule, the one with ALL THE THINGS on it, she would often feel defeated, feel behind even before she started, and as a result, she didn’t love her schedule, and she didn’t do ALL THE THINGS.

Because she didn’t get ALL THE THINGS completed, she beat herself up, thinking she is lazy, incapable, too busy, and exhausted.

She decided to move the things she didn’t do to the next day, a day that was already over-scheduled.

When that next day went the same way the other previous 29 days had gone, she gave up and stopped scheduling her day, because after all,

“what’s the point, it never gets done anyway?”

Does this mom sound like you?

How can she stop this vicious cycle?

By understanding her priorities and SCHEDULING IN WHITE SPACE!

I preach you don’t have to have every single hour of every day scheduled with to-do’s.

I teach the unplanned hour and plan B.

They are GAME CHANGERS!!

If you want to get more done, while actually doing less and feeling accomplished, you have to know your priorities!

Schedule The Feeling

Are you ready for summer?

The day before my daughter’s wedding, a client contacted me with a scheduling question. ⁣ ⁣ She had a lot going on! ⁣ ⁣ Some timing of her tasks were not in her control. Some time constraints would be placed on her last minute by her part-time job, and some of the things to be scheduled were items she wanted to get done but didn’t have a specific time frame for when they were due. ⁣

She asked, “how do I schedule my day with all these unknowns?”

Executing the wedding schedule had me in the middle of these same kinds of unknowns & time constraints that depended on other people. ⁣

When life feels like you can’t schedule much, (hello summer and kids home) 𝐈 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞. ⁣ ⁣

Although I knew I had x amount of things to accomplish before my daughter’s wedding the next day, I couldn’t schedule when they would be completed due to the variety of tasks and other people’s schedules. ⁣ ⁣

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐊𝐍𝐄𝗪 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲. ⁣ ⁣

I wanted to feel available, kind, and flexible. ⁣ ⁣

I wanted to feel like I had enough energy and patience to get it all done happily. ⁣ ⁣

Knowing how I wanted to feel helped me get everything accomplished in a way that felt good.

I was able to happily accommodate other’s schedules because I decided beforehand I wanted to 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞. ⁣ ⁣

When the table delivery service was 2 hours late, because I scheduled being flexible and kind, 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. ⁣ ⁣

When my daughter’s top tear of her cake wasn’t working out, I went home at 9 pm and baked another top tier because 𝐈 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲. ⁣ ⁣

When life feels out of control, with too many unknowns or unpredictability, I encourage you to 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥.

The feelings might be the only thing you can fully control some days.

What You Think About You

If you want people to 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮, you have to be the first person to 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮.⁣ ⁣

I encourage you to take a minute to write down all the things you think about yourself.⁣ ⁣

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭? ⁣ ⁣

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴, life, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘥?⁣

What I Hope She Learned

My oldest got married last week.

Many things went through my head about what I hope I taught her in her short 18 years!

I pondered, have I modeled to her that 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 and her ability to 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 she can change her world, the 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫, and the entire world at large with her impact and example.

𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 though

It’s about the impact that women can make in this world!⁣⁣ ⁣

⁣My favorite thing in this entire world is to 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 to do the things they were born to do.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣To help them create a path to their possibilities!

I love helping them believe in themselves and their dreams!

That’s what truly changes the world!!

Making money is the cherry on top!

What confident people know

Hey you!

Confident people know they aren’t perfect.⁣ ⁣

Confident people know that making mistakes is part of the process.⁣ ⁣

Confident people know that people judge and criticize. ⁣ ⁣

Confident people know those things and 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐚𝐲! ⁣ ⁣

Today, on instagram, I shared of time when I let my ego in the way, and as a result, I lost confidence in my great strength!

I was in a brainstorming meeting with three other women planning out a children’s primary party when someone said to me,

“Would you please stop talking, you’re making my head hurt!”

I suddenly became very embarrassed and started judging myself for talking too much and too fast.

I was mortified with shame and just sat there the rest of the meeting.

As I’ve been helping women generate ideas, goals, and changes in their businesses and motherhood, I remember my super power!

I’m an excellent idea creator!

My brain is always thinking!

Excellent ideas come faster than I can write.

I’ve helped women plan out their successful masterminds with locations, marketing, themes, and speakers ideas that light them up and bring success!

I’ve gotten creative with clients about when and how to hire a VA. What tasks would be best to offload, how to communicate with the VA, and what systems to set up for success. We’ve creatively come up with how to get the most out of a VA for THEM!

I’ve brainstormed with my clients negotiating ideas, emails, and contract options, asking for more money from affiliate sponsors. Everyone has come back with a yes and MORE MONEY!

Create a Schedule/Quarterly Goal…

without sacrificing the things you value most

I’d be honored to help you figure it out and game plan together!

I get asked this all the time.

“How do I know when it’s time to start hiring out in my business?”

Since I work with moms, the first things that often get hired out are

house cleaning

grocery delivery service

meal prep/take out

laundry services

babysitting

When it’s time to make these choices in your business or motherhood, consider asking yourself the questions (SWIPE)

These questions will help you gain clarity for when to considering hiring out other services as well, such as

an assistant

a VA

an add or SM manager

website or graphic designer

a business coach/course

a copywriter/editor

That’s a lie

Do you know what you want?

Many of my clients say,

“𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵.” ⁣ ⁣

I tell them, “𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘦.” ⁣

We know what we want! We are just afraid of what it *might* take to get it. ⁣

We are afraid that we can’t accomplish it successfully. ⁣ ⁣

We are scared that we might fail.⁣ ⁣

We worry about what other people will think of us.

We realize a desire; then, we tell ourselves stories such as ⁣ ⁣

it’s selfish to want more of that⁣ ⁣

it’s not necessary to have that (𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘦)⁣ ⁣

it will cost too much money⁣ ⁣

it will take away from my motherhood⁣ ⁣

I won’t be able to juggle all of it⁣ ⁣

I am not smart enough to _______⁣ ⁣

Instead of telling yourself all the reasons why you can’t do something in your business, consider telling yourself all the reasons why it could be possible!!! ⁣ ⁣

If you want better results, more time, less overwhelm, or more money, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞!⁣ ⁣

Figure out what you want and why, and then 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞! ⁣ ⁣

There’s not a rush to complete your dreams. ⁣ ⁣

There’s not a rush to grow your business. ⁣

Take all the time you need. ⁣ ⁣

Please, just stop telling yourself the lies that are holding you back!

The Worst Thing That’s Ever Happened

Have you ever known a school teacher to quit mid-school year?

Six years ago, I was that teacher!

We are natural storytellers, and we often use that gift to our detriment.

I told myself the worst of stories about quitting.

I’m done for in the state of Utah.

I’m never going to get another job.

No one will ever trust me again.

To make it worse, I was supposed to begin working at the neighboring school district the next year. But since I quit, I just knew I ruined that opportunity.

The day after I quit, I got a call from the same district. They’re asking me if I’m available for an interview for a work-from-home teaching position.

Quitting mid-year freed me up for one of the most significant opportunities of my career!

During that job work-from-home position, I developed many of the skills and confidence I use now in my coaching.

Because that position had flexibility, it provided me the time to certify in life and business coaching.

Because of quitting, I am here, helping other women take chances, make changes, build confidence, and create a business and motherhood they love.

“The more we practice looking in the rearview mirror and finding gratitude for the hard times we’ve experienced; the more we start to change our programming.”

Learning from the hard times is when the intensity of our fears in the moment of difficulty, will diminish!

That “worst thing that’s ever happened to you,” what are you enjoying now because you went through that experience?

The next time you tell yourself the stories of “this is the worst thing ever”, zoom out a minute and consider that you could be wrong.

Who’s That Girl?

I’ve recently become a fan of the show “New Girl.”

One of the episodes I watched recently was about two people deciding to “go all-in” on their relationship.

Their “all-in” included leaving their friends and moving to Mexico and did a few crazy things that they wouldn’t normally do for the sake of “going all-in.”  At one point in the episode, they were captured by the Mexican police for their choices. To show their commitment while they were in “jail”, they all put their American passport in the shredder.

What crazy things have you found yourself doing for the sake of “going all in?

Going all-in on your business and motherhood doesn’t mean that you are doing it all!

Going all-in is when you intentionally decide from your priorities what you’re going to do to get the results you desire.

Going all-in is staying committed to those actions and results! If the actions of your day aren’t getting you closer to the results you desire in your business and motherhood, I encourage you to take inventory!

Going all-in is evaluating your actions.

Ask yourself, what can you do less of and still reach your results?

What actions can you do without, hire out, assign to a child, reconsider, or consider a huge bonus if you do them?

This past year I decided to hire out three services that have saved me hours and hours of time and mental energy.
  • I got a grocery delivery service, and as of today, it says it has saved me 29 hours in the past 6 months. I’m pretty sure that’s a very, very low estimate of time saved!
  • I also purchased a social media scheduling service. This posting service has saved me at least 20-30 minutes each day and the price was under $100. Besides coaching, it’s seriously the best business purchase I made in 2020.
  • You know the third one right? I hired a coach to help me stop feeling like the “new girl” and strategize what I need to continue, and start doing to grow my business the way I want!

If you want to go all-in on your business and motherhood, but still feeling so new (even though it’s a while); I invite you to click here to schedule a free session with me.

Coaching will help you go all-in with purpose and a plan.  We will discover the results you desire and make a plan for you to make that happen.
