ADHD PODCAST

Did you know that ADHD testing in women has increased by over 25% in the past two years, and many informational websites for ADHD have an increased viewer rate of 60%.

The uncertainty of the past few years has really been the perfect storm to exacerbate symptoms for women who have always had ADHD (tendencies) but hadn’t yet been diagnosed.

If you or someone close to you has ADHD, especially a more recent diagnosis, the podcast I recorded with About Progress will be something you will want to check out!

This podcast is equally insightful and empowering, plus filled with actionable suggestions for living your best life with a new ADHD diagnosis.

If the ADHD part doesn’t feel relevant to you, there’s still a lot covered on leaning into your strengths, time-management tips, and understanding how the way we think of ourselves and our capabilities is important!

What are the things in your business & life that you love doing?

What are you doing right now with your time that you love? What are you doing that you don’t love?

When you grow a business if you spend time on doing things you love, your business grows faster, and it’s way more fun!! When things are FUN you do them longer and more consistently!

I recently made a list of things that I LOVE doing in my business and decided to make more time for those things.

I also created a list of things I don’t enjoy or want to do less. I am now working on plans to do less of what I don’t enjoy by either hiring out or doing without that task in my business.

I really do love to learn, but I wasn’t making the time to read, watch courses, and network with and learn from peers & mentors.

So, I created a plan for when (set a time in my calendar) I will do more learning. I know when I will read each day (hello elliptical). I know what days of the week I will set time aside to connect with peers, and get coached. I determined that while eating lunch, I will watch courses to help my business grow!

I LOVE to guest podcast, speak, present, and teach inside other membership groups, so I decided to keep that as one of my business growth goals.

Already for this month, I’ve scheduled four speaking opportunities! Fours things I get to do that I love! It also allows me to connect with peers, and when I get to do two priorities at once, I call that double-dipping.

I don’t love keeping up with my taxes, paperwork, and bookkeeping, so I hired it out.

I don’t love fixing my website issues or video editing, so I decided to “do without” while my VA took a two-month vacation. Now that she’s back, I will have her work on those tasks!

I encourage you to make these two lists and find ways to do more of what you love and less of what you don’t with your time.

Productivity Tip: Doing more of what you love is the BEST way to get more done and get more of the results you love!

How many of these things sound like you?

Are you ready to stop describing yourself as a “hot mess” that is overwhelmed and confused in life and business?

Are you ready to stop running nonstop only to feel like you’ve accomplished very little? How many of these sound like you?

“You want to use a calendar/schedule but find it daunting and restricting”

“You are doing SOOoo many things yet not feeling like you’re making progress towards any of them”

“You have so many great ideas, but not sure how to sort them out to accomplish them”

“You struggle to make decisions, even ones you think should be simple”

“You wish you knew how to plan your time better and show up with consistency”

“You are constantly “going” but not making headway towards your goals”

These are the types of things I hear from my clients all the time!

They also tell me coaching with me has sorted these issues out for them, and brought clarity and simplicity to their home life and business!

How to Know Exactly What to do with Your Time

Back in 2020, which feels like FOREVER ago, just like you, many of my clients were dealing with how to keep their business success going while homeschooling and having people home 24/7.

They didn’t have enough time!

And I knew exactly how to help them!

Not because I was a zoom special education teacher before becoming a coach, (that certainly was a bonus), but because I teach a time and schedule creation approach that allows life to throw some pretty unexpected things at us, without us having to rearrange our mind… just our time.

When you know what you’re doing with your time and why you are doing it, you know what to let go of and what to do more of when life throws a curveball.

When you know your top 5 priorities, the needle movers in your business and goals, you can have an unexpected event pop up and know exactly what to do so that you have time for your priorities as you deal with the unexpected event.

During covid restrictions, while kids were home, I received messages from clients such as,

“The mindset part of our work together when creating my schedule has helped and got me through these hard challenges!”

“I billed the most I ever have in my business while working fewer hours thanks to the things you have helped me implement.”

“I feel so focused and intentional.  This month was my highest revenue month since I started coaching with you.”

The hard truth.  If you’re a human, growing a business, there will always be another “covid” event in your life to navigate.  When you know your priorities, you can adjust your time and schedule for whatever life throws at you!

When you feel overwhelmed, do these steps to help you get back on track!

Feeling overwhelmed?

Try and S.T.O.P.

A great way to help with overwhelm is to get present with what you are currently doing, or not doing.

1. S – state
When you notice the feeling, stop, and ask yourself, “why are you feeling overwhelmed?” State the reason out loud why you are feeling that way.

2. T – talk to yourself
Ask questions such as, “Is there one thing I can do right now to feel less overwhelmed?”

3. O – observe your surroundings
Is there something in your surroundings you can change to feel less overwhelmed?
(for example: turn off the TV, turn down the podcast, turn on the music, leave the room)

4. P- present
Focus on getting present with what you are currently doing. Don’t focus on what’s happened in the past or what you still need to do. Take a breath, become aware of where you want to want place your attention intentionally.

Use my S.T.O.P acronym to help bring awareness to your overwhelm and help you get back on track.

Stop wasting time on this!

… so stop wasting time and money on generic, one-size-fits-all courses and group packages to solve your individual business, schedule, and organizational needs.

As a special education teacher, I wrote IEP’s (individualized educational plans) annually for every student I taught. ⁣

IEP’s identify a child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and define goals for the student to work towards for the following year. ⁣

As a time and productivity coach for your business and life, I’m still writing IEP’s⁣ (Individualized ENTREPRENEUR plans) ⁣

I help my clients identify their priorities and strengths to use as the guide to improve their business, home life, and parenting.

Together, we identify simple, straightforward goals to create the business and lifestyle you desire, without all the overwhelm, exhaustion, extra hours, and confusion! ⁣

I help you save time, increase productivity, relationships, and revenue!

That generic course or large group experience won’t give you what YOU need!  You need YOUR very own business and motherhood IEP!

How to Feel More Joy

When my client said this during our first call, my heart sunk!

I get it!

I’ve been there, and I’ve helped many clients climb out from there!

If we are too busy worrying about the future or the “what ifs”, we miss the joy in the present.

If we are thinking about all the things we “need” to get done, we cannot enjoy the moment.

If we judge our actions, ADHD tendencies, our weaknesses, or the way we are (or aren’t) growing our business, we are missing all the joy.

If we second-guess ourselves, question our worth, value, or compare ourselves to others, we are stealing our own joy.

I then asked my sweet client, what I’m asking you now, “Which of those things are stealing your joy?

We must be intentional to feel the joy! We must be intentional to be present.

Feeling joy is a huge reason I am so passionate about flexible scheduling, defined priorities, and knowing our intentions!

If we flexible plan, we know when we have time set aside for work, play, sleep, learning, to-do lists, business tasks, etc. Knowing the plan brings peace, and peace is joy.

Flexible planning frees us from worrying about “all we have to do” or stressing about how we’re going to “fit it all in.”

How to Feel Successful in Your Business and Motherhood

Are these the type of questions that run through your ADHD mind at night as you’re trying to sleep?
How do I know if I’m spending enough time with my children? ⁣
⁣
How can I tell if this is the right schedule? ⁣ Am I working too much?  Am I too lazy?  Should I be doing more?
⁣
Why can’t I seem to get enough done each day to feel like I made a dent in my to-do list? ⁣
⁣
How do I know if I’ve worked enough on my business today? ⁣
⁣
What should I do about X and is it the right decision?
⁣
I’ve got the answers for you!
When you define your results, you will know when it’s “enough” or when you’ve achieved the “right”…⁣ fill in your blank.
⁣
Results can be –⁣
⁣
a feeling⁣
⁣
an action⁣
⁣
a defined achievement⁣
⁣
a number⁣
⁣
a decision⁣
⁣
or sticking with a task for a predetermined block of time. ⁣
⁣
When you intentionally define the results you desire, you will know when it’s “enough” and you will feel successful in your business and motherhood.

Do you have Fear of Planning Out?

Do you resist, protest, hesitate, or procrastinate, planning out your day? ⁣
⁣
If so, you might have FOPO!⁣ The Fear Of Planning Out!
⁣
Do you — ⁣
⁣
Fear that you won’t be able to get it done anyway, so why plan?⁣
⁣
Fear that it will be boring or too restrictive? ⁣
⁣
Fear it will take away your flexibility, freedom, or fun? ⁣
⁣
Fear that you won’t follow through and stay committed?⁣
⁣
Fear making the wrong plan, doing the wrong thing?⁣
⁣
Fear that you will fail at your plan? ⁣

If you want to be “a planner” but you’re not, the first step is to become aware of your fears and understand the beliefs and thoughts you have about planning and creating a schedule.⁣
⁣
Once you uncover your thoughts and fears about planning a schedule, you can decide if those thoughts are something you want to keep believing.
⁣
Most often, I hear that a schedule takes away flexibility, creativity, fun, and takes too much time to create. ⁣ Yet, it’s the exact opposite!
⁣
A schedule supports your ability to be flexible.⁣   A schedule shows you exactly where you have time in your day to get everything done, including things that you find fun and exciting!
⁣
You’re creating YOUR schedule, so you get to make it as creative and fun as you desire! ⁣
⁣
If it’s not fun, not the life you want to be living, then let me help you fix that because a schedule SAVES you so much more time and energy both physically and mentally!
